The Windspire Energy Windspire is a 30-foot tall, propeller-free, vertical-axis wind turbine and should not be confused with other common types of wind turbines that are mounted on tall towers and have a horizontal orientation with spinning propeller blades. 

The unit’s trim and sleek design enables it to blend in well with a variety of environments, making it an attractive alternative energy option for homeowners and businesses.

Windspire’s Plug’n Produce™ design connects directly to the electrical grid, offsetting electricity use from conventional sources and reducing energy costs.

The Windspire is designed from the ground up to comply with most residential and commercial zoning ordinances as recommended by the State of Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth in their “Sample Zoning for Wind Energy Systems”,dated April 16, 2008.

The Windspire only spins 2-3 times the speed of the wind, much slower than propeller style turbines which typically spin 6-10 the speed of the wind.   

The Windspire sound levels are about 5 decibels above ambient, rendering it virtually inaudible.

 The Windspire is said to be “bird-friendly” because of the relatively slow blade speed and that birds can easily see the vertical rotating airfoils.

When the wind isn't blowing, you still get electricity from the local utility.

Safety controls prevent power surges, and provide automatic shut-off if the electrical grid fails.
